Most common signs and symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).

In our country India, irritable bowel syndrome affects around 30% of general population. Till now this condition do not have any full proof treatment. It is a condition that is because of improper balance between brain signals and digestion. IBS generally involves changing frequency or form of bowel movements and abdominal pain.

So checked out these signs and symptoms that are most commonly experienced by people with IBS.

• Diarrhoea.

In some cases of IBS, people may have a sudden and immediate urge to have a bowel movement. This form of IBS is also called as Diarrhoea predominant IBS. Most of the people, roughly 1/3 of the patients of IBS, are suffering from this variety of irritable bowel syndrome. It can be because of a significant source of stress. The stool quality is quite loose and water like with mucus content.

• Constipation.

Constipation predominant IBS is another common type of irritable bowel syndrome, and more than 50% of people are suffering from it. Because of altered communication between brain and bowel. The bowel speed may slow down in the digestive track. Addition to constipation, people with this IBS also include abdominal pain and cramping.

• Change in bowel regulations.

During most of the cases of IBS, slow moving stools in the intestine often becomes dehydrated, as intestine absorbs water. This thing results in creation of hard stools. So people with IBS mostly do not have any regulated bowel movement. Sometimes they may be constipated while some times may face diarrhoea.

• Mucus content in stool.

People suffering from IBS generally experienced some sort of mucus content in their excreta. This is because the excessive water is absorbed by intestine, so Body provides stool with mucus for proper and smooth passage. But in people with IBS, this mucus secretion is quite heavy an thus visible in excreta.

• Gas and bloating.

In most of the cases, altered digestion can lead to gas production inside the gut. Subsequently, heavy gas production with lead to bloating, which is quite uncomfortable. People with IBS generally identify bloating as one of the most persistent symptoms. More than 80% of people with IBS report the problem of bloating, gas and cramping together.
