The amount of calories consumed by person depends upon several factors. These factors include his or her environment, profession, adaptability, physical activity, age, sex and much more.

But then also several people are confused that how much amount of calories should they consume if they want to lose weight.

We cannot exactly answer this question but at least we can make you understand what are your average calorie requirements. Health experts and doctors recommend eating less then the average calories or maintenance calories to loose weight.

• Average or maintenance calories.

The average or maintenance calories again depends on several factors like age, height, activity level, physical activity, profession, metabolic health. While trying to lose weight during weight loss procedure, try to reduce your calorie intake to 500 few calories per day. Generally, this method will help you to lose around 0.45 kgs of body weight per week.

1. Women.

On an average the moderately active woman whose age may range around 24-30 years, will have not less than 2000 calories as maintenance calories. Moreover, if the woman belongs to village area or have more physical work, then these maintenance calories can go up to 3000 calories. So if a woman is trying to lose weight than she should opt for eating 500 less calories on an average.

Please note that these estimations do not apply on women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.

2. Men.

As men have more muscles in body than women, so their calorie requirement is also larger. An average young man whose age may be somewhere around 24-30 years will require not less than 2600 calories per day.

Moreover these calories may increase if the man belongs to the village area or have more physical work. Gym going persons and labours require much more higher calories. So for them it is recommended to hit at least 700 calories less than their maintenance calories.
