Diabetes is a chronic disease that is commonly found in almost all ages from adults to children, and it is somewhat spreading like an epidemic. Diabetes is a chronic disease and uncontrolled diabetes may cause serious consequences which include various heart diseases, kidney diseases, blindness and other complications. Meanwhile, eating certain food and drink items can raise your blood sugar extremely which will promote inflammation and risk of diabetes. Carbohydrates is the main cause of increase in sugar levels in blood. This is because the starch and fructose content carbohydrate have, directly breakdown into glucose and sugar. It is important to maintain a low carbohydrate intake diet and for that we are coming up with some of the food items that one should avoid during diabetes.

• Sugar beverages

Not only for diabetic person, sugary beverages are the worst food item that one can have. This is because they are very high in carbohydrates. In addition to carbohydrates, these things are also loaded with fructose which is strongly linked to insulin resistance of the body.

• Meanwhile, some of these studies also suggest that consuming sugary beverages increases the risk of diabetes related conditions. As high fructose level in body can lead to decrease in metabolic rate which will promote belly fat and harmful cholesterol levels.

• White bread and rice products 

White bread and Rice are one of the high carb processed foods. Increase blood sugar levels were found in people with type 1 and type 2 diseases who were eating bread, beagles, another refined flour items.

• Flavoured yogurt

Plain milk yogurt is very beneficial for people with diabetes. But on the other hand fruit flavoured varieties can impact in a different way. This is because flavoured yogurt are generally prepared from non fat or low fat milk with added carbohydrates and sugar. In many parts of the world frozen yogurt is considered as a healthier alternative for the ice cream but scientifically it contains just as much as calories ice cream contains.

Flavoured coffee drinks 

Coffee contains caffeine that has several health benefits, including increasing metabolism and decreasing in the risk of diabetes. However, flavoured coffee is very harmful for the diabetic person. Flavoured coffee drinks are already loaded with high amount of carbohydrates. Studies reveal that human brain cannot process liquid and solid foods similarly. So when you drink calories it will not compensate by eating less letter so subsequently will result in weight gain.

• Dried fruits and nuts 

Fruits are a good source of several important vitamins, minerals and micronutrients. With a good storage of water. But when these fruits are dried, the process result in loss of water, which leads to the more higher concentration of these nutrients. So sugar concentration also increases. Therefore, raisins contain more than four times as much carbohydrate as ripe grapes contain. So a diabetic person should stick to low calorie and low carbohydrate fruits.
